FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How should I prepare for an acupuncture treatment? Have a quiet and relaxing place where the treatment can be done (room with a bed or a comfortable sofa or a recliner). If you have pets, please, keep them in a different room. If you have small children, make sure there is another person looking after them so you can relax and get the best benefits of the treatment. Have a loose clothing that could be rolled up above your elbows and knees (the best would be to be in a gym shorts and a lose tank top or sports bra (for women). Remove all makeup. Be well hydrated. What should I expect? Your acupuncturist will arrive at your location at your booked time. The first consultation and treatment session last up to 90 min, follow up sessions up to 60 min. Supplies will be provided by the acupuncturist. Consultation and Assessment: The acupuncturist will discuss your medical history, health concerns, and treatment goals. Traditional diagnostic methods will be used to perform a physical exam. This includes a gentle palpation of your abdomen, spine, neck and limbs, depending on your health concerns. Needle Insertion: Thin, sterile, single use needles will be placed into specific points on your body. If you are sensitive to needles or concerned about pain, we can use alternative options to treat acupuncture points. Needle Retention: You’ll rest with the needles in place for 40 to 50 minutes. Add on Therapies: Other therapies like cupping, moxibustion, or ear acupuncture may be included to enhance your treatment. Is this treatment painful? We use a special technique of needle insertion with an insertion tube which helps the acupuncture pins to slide in gently without pain. What should I do after the treatment? After the session, you might feel relaxed, possibly slightly drowsy, or slightly sore. These are all normal responses and should pass in a day or two. The acupuncturist might also suggest lifestyle changes to support your treatment. It is important to stay hydrated after treatments and take it easy for the rest of your day. How many sessions will I need? You may need multiple sessions to achieve the desired results. The practitioner will create a personalized treatment plan for you. Acute conditions may only take 1-3 sessions. Chronic conditions usually require a series of sessions. Depending on your health condition it can take 4-8 treatments to start seeing results. Please, schedule a 15 min free consultation with us so we can discuss your health concerns and give you a better estimate. Can I book online? We do not offer online booking to schedule treatment sessions at this time. However, for new patients, we recommend booking a short phone interview so we can make sure that we are the right team to help with your needs. Please, call or contact us through the online form and we can find a suitable time for you. How are follow-up sessions booked? You can book your next appointment directly with your acupuncturist while they are with you or call back when convenient for you. How does the payment work? The payment is due at the time of service. The payment can be made with a credit or a debit card (including HSA/FSA card), cash or check. We do not accept health insurance; however, upon your request, we can provide you with a Superbill so you can submit it to your health insurance for reimbursement. |
